Sportsmanship !!

Good sportsmanship will be observed, between drivers, towards promoters, and to officials at all times.  Anyone not doing so may be asked to leave and not allowed to participate at future events.  Any poor sportsmanship will result in a drivers disqualification!  Promoters and judges reserve the right to refuse any car, driver, or pit person for any reason.

In the case of a tie, the fifth derby will be used as a tie breaker.

General Promoters Rules

 

All drivers must wear a DOT approved full face helmet, safety glasses, seat belt, long pants, closed shoes and a neck brace.

Car inspection:  Cars will be inspected before derby begins, after heats, and top three finishers will be re-inspected after feature is complete.  If found to be illegal driver will lose all prize money and trophies.

Boundries will be observed at all times.  There will be no deliberate pushing of cars out of bounds, this will warrant disqualification.  Any car knocked out of bounds must re-enter the same way it went out.

Drivers must maneuver forward and backward.  No deliberate hitting or flashing of drivers doors Intentional violations will result in disqualification!

A 1 minute time limit is enforced for restarts and making competitive contact with another car.

Two fires are allowed before disqualification.

Please decorate cars in good taste.

No alcoholic beverages allowed in pit.

Please keep speeds to and from the tracks down to a minimum.

Check with each promoter for age limits of drivers and pit people.

IF THE RULES DO NOT SAY IT DON NOT ASSUME THAT YOU CAN DO IT!!!! JUDGES DECISIONS ARE FINAL!!!

 

General Car Preperation

 

All glass including windshield,  side windows, rear window, head and taillights are to be removed.

Autos must be swept clean.  No junk or debris allowed in car.  Remove flammables, carpet, rear seat, etc.

Fuel tanks (no plastic tanks) must be located in the back seat and securely fastened and covered with nonflammable item.  Original gas tank must be removed.

Two batteries are allowed and must be moved to passenger front seat and covered with nonflammable covers.

No reinforcements, fabrications, or trailer hitches permitted.

Transmission linkage and ignition switches may be altered in all classes.

A 12” hole must be cut in the hood for fire safety.

Safety bars in dash and behind seat are permitted (max8”x8”mounting plate) and up to the roof of the car in the center of the roof (no kickers down).  Four door cars with no post may be beamed/posted up to roof (if welded it may be on inside of door post not on outside holding doors).

A bar from the fron cowl to roof and a drivers window guard is recommended for drivers safety.

Stock radiators in original position with no bracing or guards allowed.

Headers will be allowed in all classes, but must be straight up or a maximum of 30 degree angle (no 90 degree).

Vehicles will have sufficient brakes at all times.

 

 

 

Mapleton Town & Country Days Demolition Derby

June 13, 2007

 

1.  Back gate will open at 3:00 p.m. and close at 6:30 p.m. for a 7:00 p.m. start.  BE EARLY!!!

2.  No one under the age of 16 will be allowed in the pit area.  Anyone entering the pit area must sign a release

form before entering.

Vehicle classes will be Full size ( except pre-74 imps., hearses and ambulances), compact 106” wheel base or less), or mini-vans.

All drivers must be 16 years of age with a valid drivers license and parents consent or 18 years old.

Promoter reserves the right to reject any participant for any reason.

Any vehicle thought to be dangerous to driver or any other competitor will be disqualified.

Full Size Car Rules

 

All doors and trunk lid may be fastened shut by wire or a 5” skip weld with a max plate size of 5” x 2” on outside door seams only, except drivers door which may be reinforced for drivers safety.  Holes in floor or trunk pans or in frames may be replaced with like size patches without over lapping for strength.

Frames:  re-welding  only  the tops of the frame from A-arms forward is allowed without adding any extra metal for filler or for bracing and 3/8” maximum width.  Frame repair due to damage or rust is allowed, on sides only, using like metal and not to overlap more than 1 inch.

Bumpers and brackets (automotive only) may be interchanged from make, model, and year without adding extra brackets homemade or otherwise.  Bumpers, brackets, and shocks may be welded, bolted, wired, or chained but if welded no more than 8 inches per side.  We want the parts to stay on the cars and not on track.  A 28” max bumper height from ground to the top of the bumper will be inforced.

Cutting fenders for tire clearance is permitted a four to five 5/16” bolts may be added to hold fender to wheel well.

Tucking of trunk is permitted with access for inspection.

Hoods and trunks may be fastened shut, with wire (in a max of 8 spots) or hoods and trunks may be bolted with max of four 3/4” bolts, 2 front bolts in hood may be bolted through frame with regular washers and nuts behind radiator support or welding on top of the frame only the diameter of the bolt.  Hoods must be open for inspection.

Engines may be wired or bolted solid to the side of the frame not the top.  No welding motor mount to the top of the frame.  Max 2” bracket from motor to the frame and one per side.

Any 5 bolt rear axel may be used.  Leaf spring can be clamped together with a maximum of 4 clamps on each side.

Body mounts may be removed and rebolted with up to a 3/4” bolt and a max of a 4”x4”x1/2” thick plate.

Transmission coolers are allowed.

Stem protectors allowed.  Tires may be 14” or 15” and must be air filled only.  No max ply rating inforced.
